Welcome urbanMamas

Glad you found us!

Living in cohousing has many benefits for young families. Regular interactions with neighbors inspires trust, confidence, and positive self-worth for youth. They create deep and lasting bonds, and learn how to respect others by starting next door. Parents in cohousing can rest assured that they are in a supportive and safe neighborhood, surrounded by those who know and care about one another. Buying into cohousing is comparable to buying a single-family house, with the added values of having more green space and security of neighbors watching out for one another. For young families, cohousing is priceless.

Of particular interest is the Free Public Talk on Friday night and the Free Open Houses Sunday afternoon. If you can attend the conference check out the full schedule and consider registering.

FREE Friday Night Public Event

This is a great opportunity for those new to cohousing and living in the Portland area. Learn about Cohousing: Creating Community One Neighborhood at a Time, at this free public talk by Grace Kim. This free public talk will be held at Eliot Chapel.

FREE Cohousing Open Houses

Seven cohousing communities will be holding open houses from 3:30 – 5 pm on Sunday June 2 (Green Grove  –  2 pm- 6 pm). Stop by after the Conference, meet more cohousers, take a tour, view homes and find out more about how cohousing really operates.
